Ground improvement performance criteria for mitigation of liquefaction susceptibility are usually specified in terms of a required penetration resistance. This value is usually selected based on the anticipated Cyclic Stress Ratio (CSR) at the site and on empirical correlations between CSR and occurrences of liquefaction in previous earthquakes in similar soils.
