Spanish term

patrón

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals Cleaning validation in pharmaceutical pilot plants
I´m not sure of the exact translation here (not, by a long chalk, a specialist in this field). The term is used several times in a research paper on the use of TOC analysis as a method for cleaning validation in drug production plants.

In the section "Precision of the TOC analyzer":

Para calcular su precisión, se prepara un patrón con 1 ppm C (con ftalato patrón TOC).

Is a "patrón" simply a standard solution, and what would be the correct term in English, particularly for "ftalato patrón TOC"?

Thanks for your help.

And then to answer the rest of your question, I'd suggest "phtalate standard solution for TOC determination purposes" or something along those lines. ;-)
