dummy value

I.e. a value that has no meaning. Inserted when missing value is not allowed in e.g. a database. (I have inserted many dummy values through the years during database work.)

In this case it is a pre-defined code that is used for everything that does not fit the other standard codes, so maybe it should be called dummy code instead. (And the confidence level was supposed to be a four and not a five.)

dead code

I have never heard ths term used in this context, but a "slaskkod" is a dead string of code in a computer language, such as HTML, that does not have any functionality and can be removed. Can be, for instance, left-overs of an old sring that was removed... hope that helps.

disagree Kent Andersson : This would be correct if the question was about programing but that is not the case here.
