flauge

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Forestry / Wood / Timber term
I tried to find the meaning of this term "Flauge del legno" on the web but did not come up with a translation of it. Any help? or does it remain the same. But what does it mean? I can gather it has to do with some imperfections?? of the wood. thanks
