English term

compensation

English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) Air conditioner/ Cooling-Heating
Dear collegues,

"compensation of 5°C is required."

The sentence above is a curious one for me, for I am not sure if it means:
that the temperature should be constant at 5ºC.
or the temperature should be compensated with 5ºC (ie. if it is 12ºC it will be 7 or 17ºC, depending on demand)

I apologise for my language, but I am not a native speaker.
Kindest regards,

Binnur
