Spanish term

días de rojo

Spanish to English Art/Literary Music lyrics
Hello all.
This is from the lyrics to a song "a song of liberation for women". I don't know if "días de rojo" is a set phrase, but I've never heard it before. Has anybody else? If not, I'll just translate it literally.

Ella es,
Rebeldía y alegría,
Con la montaña rusa,
Y con DIAS DE ROJO
Y sin el brillo de sus ojos,
Ya no podria vivir

Thanks much in advance.

red days/days in red

Es de Luz Casal, no?
yo creo que se refiere a la menstruación (por lo de la montaña rusa - cambios de humor, bla bla) Yo lo traduciría tal cual porque no es una forma usual en castellano tampoco.

Thank you Nedra. Yes! I like Amparanoia. (I also like Manu Chao)

I really don't know if this is what it refers to in your context, but I have heard of "días de rojo" as the days marked in red on the calendar here--Sundays and public holidays.

Se necesita camarera de barra para bar de poligono industrial en oiartzun. horario:de 8.00 a 14.00 ó de 15.00 a 21.00 segun se quede. mas el sabado de 9.30 a 14.00 y de 15.30 a 21.00. 40 horas semanales. ***domingos y dias de rojo*** en el calendario fiesta.

La sagrada familia" es una historia de claustrofobia y encierro diurno en Semana Santa, son tres días de rojo en el calendario y unas vacaciones cortas de fin de semana largo.

So maybe it's a looser interpretation--red-letter days?

On the other hand...maybe it means to contrast euphoria (=montaña rusa) with rage, perhaps? ("seeing red")? or maybe that's a stretch... :-D

Anyway, some ideas for you, at least.

Thanks, Cindy. Good idea. This occurred to me, too, but decided to go with a literal translation, as I didn't have a lot to go on!
