They are also called "palas" but it's the same thing. Maybe find out what's used in your country.

disagree CarmenHaydee : no me parece...hoy dia se dice brazadas y remos. Brazadas son la accion de los brazos (hand in this case) al nadar. La otra forma de usar las manos asi es cuando se esta remando.
