i've got a fairly recent Nokia that displays "Numéro masqué" - it's an option.
I suggest you play with your phone - you find where it is (phone settings probably), and then set the language to French and see what it comes up with!

: pe-être 'numéro inconnu' mais c'est pas l'appel qui est masqué, c'est bien le numéro. 'Appel masqué', c'est une autre option.

Just to add to the possibilitiés..... my land line screen says 'appel secret' when the number isn't displayed; my mobile says 'inconnu'
