Lo primero que hizo Pasteur fue visitar las industrias y observar los recipientes (cubas) que contenían el vino. Observó muestras al microscopio de las cubas que tenían el vino sano y también muestras del vino enfermo (agrio) y encontró que las muestras de vino sano tenían levaduras y las muestras de vino agrio en lugar de tener levadura presentaban unas manchas con unos microorganismos en forma de bastoncillos.
Será porque ahí se toma vino sano, que dicen que es la bebida de los pueblos fuertes.
