I think this must be related to the recent news from the Madrid fashion show about the newly stipulated minimum body mass for models on the catwalks --- out with the starved, in with the tall and 'slender' (no protruding ribs)... Somehow I think you need the word 'voluminous', or 'voluminousness', which is more of a mouthful.

Yo entiendo que se refiere literalmente a los volúmenes que tenía la moda en aquel entonces: faldas con cintura ceñida y mucho vuelo, mucho volumen, por ejemplo. Creo que la traducción debería dar esa idea de volumen físico.
