French term

en valeur instantanée

French to English Tech/Engineering Mathematics & Statistics water networks
I am having trouble with the 'Nota' right at the end of this equation. This is taken from a discussion about assessing loss of water through leaks in a water distribution network. My current translation is:
'N.B: with this method, applicable in certain large plants, it is possible to estimate the profit obtained as an immediate value of the loss when the backlog value is reduced' - but I am not happy with this as it sounds confusing and I am not sure I have captured the meaning. Is this what it means, and can someone suggest a better way of putting it?

Backlog de fuites sur conduite : Nc fuites
Backlog de fuites sur branchements : Nb fuites
qc = 100 m3/jour à 50m de pression. Débit moyen d’une fuite invisible sur conduite, voir R1B point c)
qb = 25 m3/jour à 50m de pression. Débit moyen d’une fuite invisible sur branchement, voir R1B point c)
Pression moyenne de service : p en mètres
Perte annuelle : Pfv en m3/an
**Nota : cette méthode applicable dans certaines grandes exploitations permet d’estimer le gain obtenu en valeur instantanée de la perte quand on réduit la valeur du backlog**

instananeous value

...for the loss

or: instantaneous loss value

it means an instantaneous (rather than, for example, long-term averaged) value, i.e. at any given moment in time.

The concept of an 'instantaneous value' is very common in lots of branches of applied mathematics.
