mining prospectus
[WO3]
Wenske is silent, and googling left me confused:
Wolframtrioxid? Wolframat? Wolframit?
I'm translating a mining prospectus, and the paragraph mentions tungsten, molybdenum etc.
I'd appreciate some input from our chemists!
"Tungsten prices are generally quoted as US dollars per MTU of Ammonium Paratungstate ("APT") an intermediate product in the production of tungsten metal for which price quotes are generally available. One metric tonne = 1000 Kg, therefore TUNGSTATE, (WO3), is valued at around US$26.00 per Kg. For example, rock grading 0.200 % W, would contain 2.52 kg of Tungstate(WO3). Molybdenum is currently trading at a price of around US$ 55 per Kg. of Mo."

Tungstate is Wolframat in German.
However WO3 and the calculation that leads to 2.52 shows that the author has tungsten trioxide in mind, so in this case I would translate "tungstate" bt Wolframtrioxid.

: Correct that tungstate=Wolframat, but WO3 is Wolframtrioxid, and chemically Wolframat and Wolframtrioxid is NOT the same.
