French term

bac navette

French to English Tech/Engineering Automation & Robotics
Not much context I'm afraid
This is the title of a picture in a website.
"installation globale bacs navettes"
I can't give the address of the website for the moment.
However, they look like the standard stackable plastic containers used to transport various items and even used in the home (only not so strong).
I found one picture here - http://www.otto-office.fr/fourniture/bacs_navette.html
which will give you an idea. Now imagine it in an industrial automated environment.

Any ideas?

kanban bins

That, at least, is what you reference to the industrial environment makes me think of.

Kanban
The illustration below shows two rows of part bins which are set up for resupply by the two-bin kanban system.1 Initial assembly starts with all bins full of parts. When the part bin nearest the worker is depleted, the full bin behind moves forward, as shown by the empty space in the illustration. The empty part bin then is returned to its "source," which could be the machine that made the part, a sub-assembly workstation that assembled the part, or a supplier. The source fills the bin and returns it to this assembly workstation behind its counterpart which is now dispensing parts

If you don't like this answer you can bin-bag it.

shuttle bin / crate

I don't believe this is a special kind of 'plastic bin', but rather, its function --- it is used to 'shuttle' things from one place to another. If these are quite small, I'd say 'bin' (as used for storage of smaller components etc.), but when they get a bit larger (as used for bulkier things in your garage, for example), I'd call it a crate --- and specifically if it has pierced rather than solid walls.

Even gets a few Googles, as long as you discount the German ones where 'bin' is a verb!

I just found this site where they refer to a 'tote', which may be whate you're after (though no pix)

Note from asker:
I tried googling that already and wasn't convinced. These look fairly small, so I'll go for the bin :-) a google images search gives strange results.
