Could anyone translate this last sentence. I amdm curious to see how this -ing form turns out. It's a verb form that often bugs me in Spanish - is it actually correct/OK? (Or is this kind of usage actaully anglo-saxon???)

Comment: "This was the explanation I needed (and I intend to keep it for future reference!!! As I said this SP -ing has bugged me often!). The first contributors and those who agreeed with him/her missed this point. Here's the sentence again, translated literally (to me this is poor English, although i might have difficulty in explaining why!):

The problem is WHO or WHAT creates (we -directly, which means a voluntary action - or teh action of indicating, which makes it an involuntary action?) and WHEN (at teh same time, before, after?)"

I think the proper word here would be "creando" , not "creándose". The gerund form *is* used in Spanish, but not to the extend you see it in English.

Only today this use of the gerund was bugging me yet again. Most of the time I feel that using the gerund in English is not appropriate - but then again - am I just writing/thinking Spanglish and getting totally confused? The above is what I would put for your sentence, but that doesn't mean that I'd solve this (huge) problem the same way every time. Sometimes I put full stops and start a new sentence, sometimes I may well even use the gerund.

However, this "gerundio de posterioridad" is accepted by others. This is from Manuel Seco's Dudas y dificultades del español: "...el gerundio que denota acción posterior a la expresada por el verbo principal no es incorrecto, siempre que esa posterioridad sea inmediata,...; Pero no se admite el gerundio cuando no se cumple esa condición."
In my opinion, "y se creará una carpeta llamada "Docs"." is a better version than this "gerundiazo" :-))
Gerunds are tricky even for natives; the influence of English (and bad translators!) doesn't help either.

creandose = creating it self
The form "creandose" is the reflective form for the gerund, you could also say "se estan creando"= been created.Both are correct, but it is more common and appropiate to say " creandose".
