Y. is an acronym for a title preceding the name of the Chancellor of my university
It is contained in the address/title of the Chancellor of UPSI in Tanjong Malim as an acronym ...
"Nama: Y. Bhg. Datuk Dr. Muhammad Rais bin Abdul Karim Jawatan: Naib Canselor (JUSA A)"
If you can translate that acronym into Malaysian AND English that would be wonderful!

Yang Berbahagia (The Honorable )
The full abbreviation is "Y. Bhg." for "Yang Berbahagia" (The Honorable) which I have corrected.

the esteemed
This is an honorific prefix. It can be translated literally as "The Fortunate," "the Saved (in a spiritual sense," "The Prosperous" or "The Happy," but such phrases sound rather awkward, at least in my North American English.
"The esteemed Datuk Dr. Muhammad . . ." sounds a bit better.
Spelled out it is "Yang Berbahagia."

Oops, simultaneous responses. \"Honorable\" sounds good too.
