German term

Kaffeesatzschublade

German to English Tech/Engineering Food & Drink Catering Equipment Catalogue
"Kaffeesatzschublade

From the never-ending catering catalogue - although actually, it is almost at an end! I have a picture of the thing - it is a type of drawer - but I have no idea what it would be called in English. The "Satz" part of the word in particular is confusing me. TIA for any light you can shed on it. This is somewhat urgent - today is D-day, as in Delivery/Deadline day.

Brie Vernier Aug 19, 2005:
"Quite a few search engine hits"??? Google gives *78*. Compare that with more than 7,000 for knock box, and still more than 5,000 if you add espresso or coffee outside the quotes!
Non-ProZ.com Aug 19, 2005:
Oops Just discovered in LEO that "Kaffeesatz" is "coffee grounds", though "coffee grounds drawer" still seems a little odd ...

agree ciliegina : Some machines call this a "Trester" but I don't have a translation for that either in this context!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Coffee grounds drawer got quite a few search engine hits, so it more than likely is this. But gfish's suggestion was also very plausible. Thanks to everyone who contributed - appreciate your help."

agree Brie Vernier : this is correct if it is not a built-in feature, but I don't think that is meant here//scratch that, I just noticed the Klopfleiste ...

coffee ground tray

I believe it's called tray in a toaster, collecting the crumbs, sliding in and out. Would that fit?

(internal/built-in) dump box (for spent grounds)

Coffee Bean Storage Hopper & Internal Dump Box
Keeping ½ pounds of beans fresh and ready for grinding is the built in, lidded coffee bean hopper. This large capacity allows up to 30 cups of coffee to be prepared before refilling is needed. When the coffee grounds are spent, the machine delivers them to the internal dump box; which can hold up to 15 expended coffee portions. It’s easy to remove and clean.

Because of the rinse cycles at start up and shut down, the drip tray of the F7 does need to be emptied rather frequently.
When you remove the drip tray for disposal, the dump box also comes out of the machine, so it’s quick and easy to dispose of the spent grounds as well.

Internal Storage of Spent Coffee Grounds

The internal dump box catches all of the spent coffee grounds left over from the brewing process. Its large capacity will hold up to 40 spent coffee portions. It can be removed for disposal and easy cleaning.
