wellness, self-help
I'm translating short segments of text for a wellness app, and came across a heading for a section called "coup de pouce". This app offers a variety of programs using guided relaxation/meditation/hypnosis to deal with issues ranging from sleep to stress to smoking to over-eating, etc.
In a meditation app I have called "10% happier," they make a distinction between courses (a sequential order that you need to follow with text and video), and stand-alone meditations they call "singles". In the app I'm translating, there is a similar distinction, with programs to follow in a specific order for a particular theme, where you can't unlock the next item until you've completed the first. The "coup de pouce" are similar to my other app's "singles" in that you can access them without going through a particular program, but the client really wants to keep the notion of help/support/encouragement inherent in "coup de pouce". There are also a few other stand-alone sections called "sessions" and "sphères", another reason why singles won't work.
There seems to be a bit of overlap between the sections mentioned above, but the idea behind the "coup de pouce" is that once you've completed a specific program (let's say, Improving your sleep), you can just go back to the "coup de pouce" section to find some exercises, meditations, relaxations etc. that you liked to help you maintain your progress. The "coup de pouce" are broken down into many of the same categories of the programs, but not all...
A previous translator who worked on some audio scripts used the term Nudge, which I must admit I don't love.
We talked about the possibility of using "booster" or "mini-booster", which feels like an improvement on nudge, but I'm not completely satisfied.
Would love any inspired suggestions!
I'm using US spelling, but something fairly universal is best since it's not country-specific.
Thanks!

Boost
Please see my discussion notes. This seems like both a positive call to action and the noun for it. Short, sweet, relevant and positive. Also, wanted to avoid the longer "booster" form, as it makes me think of all the vaccinations we've had in recent months!
Note from asker:
Thanks Libby, I'll add this to my list to present to the client. I agree that Boost does sound better than booster these days! |
I spoke with the client and we chose this one together. Thanks! |

: If you have to keep the idea of sequenced sessions, how about "sequenced boosts"? Or "up the ladder" for the title, then boosts for the individual sessions?

Thanks, Gabrielle. Interesting suggestions, although I'm thinking that the shorter the titles, the better.

Helping hand
This phase could be effective for the stated purpose.
Note from asker:
Not sure that it works for a section of an app, but thanks! |

: This was what first occurred to me. But arguably it's not annoying, US or jargony enough for an "app" in 2022.

helpful tip(s)
Perhaps a possibility?
If you consider it's more than just a 'tip', then maybe something like helpful ideas or helpful suggestions?
I agree that keeping the notion of 'help' is probably essential here.
Would 'supportive suggestion' be any good?

Note from asker:
Thanks Tony, but it's not really tips or suggestions. It's guided meditations etc. just organized under a different header than what's in the program. |

thumbs-up (section)
Hello
This could be taken in the sense of "approved", "encouragement" or "go ahead (and do these exercises)" and keeps the French word "pouce"

: no, wrong connotations // the meaning is along the lines of: "helpful additional nudge/push" that will tip the balance / get the desired results.

Toolkit
Doesn't have quite the same 'help along' tone of the FR, but is positive in the sense of containing several individual tools or resources that will help the app users achieve their goals, and fits with app lingo.

Or maybe combinations with 'hack', like 'health hacks' or 'wellness hacks', which would suit an app very well.

Power Shots / Super Boosts
Very tricky. I don't think "boosts" works on its own but it's probably the closest. You could add some notion of "extra" or "turbo-charged".

Thanks Elizabeth! I'm the translator who worked on audio scripts for this client. I put a lot of thought into this but never hit on a winning formula. We agreed on "Nudges" as a placeholder but as the OP says, it's not good. Hope a better option emerges!

Pick-me-ups
Pick-me-ups might have the feel-good connotation you're client is aiming for. Plus it sounds more specific than boost.
Reference:
4 days
break, breather, quick fix, pause, reset, reboot, reBoost
Just thinking aloud. Brainstorming. Wondering if these words could make sense. I know reset and reboot could be confusing terms in an app...maybe you could modify them. How about reBoost.
