I've used all sort of input devices. Starting with mechanical typewriters. It could be a trackball that feels too heavy, springs in the keyboard keys or the mouse buttons that start feeling like hard work after pressing them thousands of time, or even touch tablets that that you have to press hard to get any result.

I found that's always useful to learn keyboard shortcuts - your hands stay on the keyboard and you don't keep using the same few fingers. Another trick is to alternate from time to time the buttons on the mouse and use it with the left hand.

Also, we are not typists, so going to great lengths to minimise hand movements for higher speed is beside the point - it's more important to use all fingers.

I use dictation most of the time now, and I use the keyboard/mouse to correct any errors the dictation software makes (installation instead of insulation, etc.)

Interesting scenario. No doubt a precise mouse is useful for such use!

A mouse that isn't precise would be completely useless. My Apple Magic Mouse (mentioned above) is of course very precise.
