external growth

Mote context would help - pending that, I might drop "operations" or translate it as "strategies" instead, which could work in the sentence you've provided

business acquisitions

You either generate growth internally ("organically") or you buy it in.

In my observation, the internal/external growth distinction is less common and less established in English that organic growth vs. acquisitions.

"External growth" suggests that the writer doesn't want to say the word "acquisitions".

acquisitions

I've seen both external growth operations and external growth transactions, so I'm sure putting either one of those would be fine. But they basically both mean acquisitions. So I would keep it simple and just say "related to acquisitions made in October 2008."

Of course more context always helps to be sure!
