Spanish term

alveolo forestal

Spanish to English Science Environment & Ecology Forestry
From a reforestation plan (Spain):

Ejemplar de Juniperus oxycedrus subsp. oxycedrus en *alveolo forestal* de 400 cm3

This repeats several times with the only variation being the plant species or the amount of cm3.

I need the technical term in English, if any.

I've found a number of translations on the web as "forest alveolus", but I am in doubt as to the reliability of the sources.

forestry cell (tray)

cell or cell tray.

Individual trees are grown in cells to keep their roots separate. These cells can be kept together in trays, or separately.

See:

"The new TS100 F cell side slot forestry tray is designed particularly for plantation forest nurseries."

The cells incorporate a revised and improved side slot air root-pruning technology, reflecting further development in this highly successful concept.

tree seed trays

seedling trays

Trees for reforestation are shipped as seedlings, not as seeds, in small plastic trays (an important distinction).

So, it would depend on the context of your document-- wether they are discussing growing seedlings or a reforestation project already in progress.

If, in fact, this is for the reforestation project, seedling trays would be the appropriate term. These are used until the tree is large enough to be replanted.

tree plug

This is the term for the individual seedling plus the earth it is rooted in, ready to be planted; otherwise I agree with Gilla about the name for the tray.
Example sentence:

I am just starting out in the nursery business and want to know where is the best place to order wholesale plant and tree plugs?
