I just love it when a person who is not good at software development uses a machine that is not good at software development – and has been based on plagiarism, theft and pollution – to make something and then brag about it as if it were some sort of miraculous achievement.

Wow, now that does change things. Separate from the issue of whether it's good or bad to code with AI, I don't think the person should be stealing the Notepad++ name or code!

As a Windows user, I can't imagine working without Notepad++, whether it's for writing Python code, making simple notes, updating websites or editing large text files.

I hope this helps others port it to Linux. Once I asked an open-source software developer why so many of them used VSCode. Apparently, there's no good general text editor available on Linux, unless you want to use vi/vim or Emacs in the terminal.

Try this:
1. Run regedit.exe
2. Open Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\
3. Find and remove the extension's folder
4. Do the same steps for Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts

The suggested solutions and workarounds should help open a SDLPPX package with the intended application. The good news: the proposed solution need be applied only once and you're set.

Reminds me of other situations, such as when I wanted to open a PDF with Adobe Acrobat, but Windows 10 would open it with Acrobat Reader (installed separately). But even Windows 10/11 is unable to keep the user's preferences straight. It's 2026 and we're still struggling with a dinosaur of an operating system. And don't get me started on the misshapen MS Word interfaces!

I noticed that this ugly memoQ icon was still shown on my Desktop. So I changed the setting under "Open with" (Cmd+I when the SDLPPX is selected) to Trados. This didn't make a Trados icon displayed. So I took a Trados image from the web, copied it and pasted it in the top left icon:

A lot of work, just to tame a cheeky app.

To prevent macOS from opening Windows virtual machine (VM) applications when double-clicking files, disable file association sharing in your VM software (Parallels, VMware, or VirtualBox). In Parallels, go to Settings > Options > Applications and uncheck "Share Windows applications with Mac".

Parallels Desktop: Open VM Configuration, go to Options > Applications, and uncheck "Share Windows applications with Mac" or specifically the "Open Mac files in Windows" option.

I suppose you have to go to Windows Settings--> Apps-->Default apps, go down to MemoQ and set defaults. [/quote]

Go down to Studio and set defaults
But you can also go to the sdlppx file on the Mac OS side, right click on the file -->Get info-->Open with-->Trados Studio-->Change all

Tipp: Du kannst den Fokus „Nicht stören“ auch schnell aktivieren bzw. deaktivieren, indem du die Wahltaste gedrückt hältst, während du auf Datum und Uhrzeit in der Menüleiste klickst.

I also thought about trying to work around this feature by creating a new Do Not Disturb focus, let's say from 0:01 am to 0:10 am, and to turn this on. I'll try it later on.
My husband's phone and mine are not paired and he doesn't have the same problem. He is my preferred contact (able to reach me even if my phone is set to silent), but so are my daughters and they don't show up here.
