No veía por las calles ni un ser viviente. Le parecía que tenía ante sus ojos un telón negro, y que las luces que brillaban acá y allá, eran simples desgarraduras en ese telón. Tierra y cielo se confundían en la oscuridad difusa e indecisa de la madrugada.

agree  Carol Gullidge: Merged, not mingled! But not sure that "vague uncertain dawn" isn't perhaps overstretching poetic license by ignoring "oscuridad"!

  -> Yeah, I thought I'd leave it out. I was thinking "dark of dawn", but I went for brevity. My poetic licence must be up for renewal soon.
