agree  Charles Davis: Would "gutter journalism" be going too far? "Yellow" isn't used very much in my experience (perhaps it is in America).

  -> Thanks Charles. It certainly originated in the US, but I think it is understood in the Uk.

agree  Robert Carter: I hadn't heard of "yellow" journalism either, I always assumed "amarillismo" was only used in Spanish. In the UK it's generally thought of as "tabloid journalism". I think "sensationalist" works well here, or even "gutter" as Charles mentioned.
