Hasta la más modesta entidad precisa de un conjunto de estos activos para poder llevar a cabo su actividad. El concepto de **activo informático** hay que tomarlo en el sentido más amplio de la palabra: ordenadores, discos, aplicaciones, enlaces a Internet o a otras redes, bases de datos, servidores web, etc.
