Looking for the best way to translate this phrase. It appears in a contract for the provision of services.

Context:

ambas partes acuerdan el presente contrato para regular el aceso y tratamiento de datos de carácter personal de conformidad con los siguientes pactos ..

and

El aceso por parte del Encargado de Tratamiento a los datos suministrados, no se considerará comunicación de datos.

@Helena. Sorry, I wasn't trying to poach your answer. I simply think that "processing" is the more formal expression and appropriate for a contract.

The Data Protection Act 1998 regulates the handling of "personal data". For day-to-day purposes, "personal data" is information about living, identifiable individuals; see the link below for a more precise definition.

neutral  Andy Watkinson: Hi Helena. "Handling", as used in the examples, is typical of the UK plain English, reader-friendly kind of style. It's not something the Spanish do (unfortunately) and less so in an actual contract, I'd say.

  -> Yes, my fault for not spending enough time on my answer. I should have compared process, handle, manage and use then found examples of each one before deciding which word was most suitable. I use three of the four I've suggested (I don't like use).
