Acknowledgment of Deeds Explanation: ACKNOWLEDGMENT, conveyancing. The act of the grantor going before a competent officer, and declaring the instrument to be his act or deed, and desiring the same to be recorded as such. The certificate of the officer on the instrument, that such a declaration has been made to him, is also called an acknowledgment. The acknowledgment or due proof of the instrument by witnesses, must be made before it can be put upon record. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2020-12-13 18:54:34 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- (I thought I had added the following in Definition, but here you go) Acknowledgement Of Deeds An acknowledgment is the act of declaring the execution of an instrument, but the word also denotes the official certificate of such declaration.
