agree  Per Bergvall: Hanging fenders ON the forecastle makes little sense. Fenders are hung off the side of the ship, AROUND the forecastle or OFF the forecastle. In more daily parlence, "off the forward sides" would aptly describe where fenders that "henges ut på bakken" go.
