approaches to scientific investigation Explanation: Although the German "Wissenschaft" is a more all-encompassing term as regards knowledge than the English "science", so that "wissenschaftlich" could indeed be translated as "academic", I would be inclined in this case to refer to scientific investigation rather than academic research, e.g., "The methods and strategies of qualitative and quantitative research do not constitute two clearly distinguished approaches to scientific investigation ..." I'm working on the assumption that social sciences are a subset of science or the sciences, distinct from natural sciences. |
