Trennungsrechnung

English translation: separate accounting

German to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Accounting / COVID-19 Relief Act
German term or phrase: Trennungsrechnung
Here is the context:

Die mit COVID-19 einhergehende Liquiditätslücke muss dabei nachweislich auf die aktuelle Krise zurückzuführen sein (bspw. durch Trennungsrechnungen).

Basically, companies need to prove that their financial troubles are a direct result of the coronavirus crisis, and one way to do so is to draw up separate accounts to show performance with and without the impact of the crisis. I know there is a word for this, but can't put my finger on it and the file is (like everything else these days!) extremely urgent.

Thanks in advance for help!

English translation:separate accounting
Explanation:
This is evidently a term primarily used in university accounting in Germany, meaning the separate accounting for sovereign activities (education and self-funded research) and economic activities (research conducted with third-party funds, services). This in turn is based on a European Commission Communication, which talks about accounting for the different activities separately.
In your context, I think "separate accounting" fits the bill.

differential accounting

Explanation:
Since businesses are involved (apparently not universities), the term would have to be an established one that reflects a purposeful comparative approach:

agree  philgoddard: I think "separate accounting" works, as Jennifer herself suggests. All the hits I found for the German word relate to universities keeping separate accounts for commercial and non-commercial activities.
