Finnish term

myötävä (medical)

Finnish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
I've seen the term "myötävä" used in various medical reports, to describe the condition of an examined part of the body.

(I can't easily bring up the context right now, but I recall "myötävä" being used to describe e.g. the abdomen when palpated.)

So far, my only lead is an old Finnish-Swedish dictionary (from the 19th c.) that translates "myötävä" as "medgifvande".

I don't know if this is still accurate today (or whether it was then), but how would you render "myötävä" as typically used in medical contexts?

Kiitos

yielding

Especially in the context of abdominal palpation, the term used in English is yielding for myötäävä, often in the combination with soft ("soft and yielding", "pehmeä ja myötäävä"), a normal finding.
Note from asker:
Thanks. "yielding" was the best translation I could think of up until now as well.
