why you should discuss the d word ¿Por qué tienes que hablar de la palabra que empieza por "m"? Explanation: No creo que haya una traducción rigurosamente literal de esta frase. Como dices, "the D word" viene a ser un eufemismo; pero aquí no se usa para evitar la la palabra tabú sino más bien para llamar la atención sobre el hecho de que sea tabú. Para un uso más convencional, ver ejemplo de abajo, en el que "la palabra que empieza por J" es un eufemismo de una palabra considerada soez. Example sentence(s):

¿Por qué es importante abordar este concepto tabú? Explanation: La traducción literal me temo que no funciona bien en castellano (la M...; la palabra M.; la palabra que empieza por M). La idea que resalta el original es precisamente que Muerte es un término tabú. Así, por ejemplo, por qué es importante hablar sobre este concepto/término tabú // por qué es importante abordar este término/concepto/tema tabú, creo que funcionarían bien como equivalentes en este caso. |
