bizisyl: I agree; it could definitely be divided into subgroups. The more specific the information that the community provides with respect to where a given term or phrase is used, the more useful that information is. The degree to which variation exists in languages (in general), even within some countries that are not especially large (e.g., Colombia and England), is remarkable. And when it comes to informal language use (especially across social classes), the variation is even greater. The question should be broadened to include this rich diversity. After all, the KudoZ points can still go to "the most helpful" answer (and the glossary will be enriched in the process). |
