In popular cinema, the bookend technique is most often used to refer to a parallel between the opening and closing sequences or shots in a film. The first scene is re-visioned, with only minor changes, in the film’s final scene leaving the audience with a feeling of completion; what was started is now finished.

Кольцевая композиция (круговая композиция) — построение частей произведения, при котором сочетаются и композиционно соотносятся начальный и конечный эпизоды или их основные, акцентные элементы, позволяющие зрителю ощутить не только завершенность, но и цикличность, повторяемость показанного.

  • Иногда фильм начинается и заканчивается одним и тем же статичным планом. Это можно назвать рамкой, но правильнее будет говорить о кольцевой композиции. Она не всегда имеет прямое отношение к основному сюжету, скорее, дополняет его.
