Bid-Ask Spread is typically the difference between ask (offer/sell) price and bid (purchase/buy) price of a security. Ask price is the value point at which the seller is ready to sell and bid price is the point at which a buyer is ready to buy. When the two value points match in a marketplace, i.e. when a buyer and a seller agree to the prices being offered by each other, a trade takes place.

बिड (Bid) और आस्क (ask) याने बोली लगाना या फिर कीमत मांगना। इस बिड और आस्क के फर्क को स्प्रेड बोलते हैं।

Example sentence(s):
  • बिड (Bid) और आस्क (ask) याने बोली लगाना या फिर कीमत मांगना। यह एक डीलर या जॉबर करता है। अर्थात वह आदमी जो एक कंपनी के शेयर खरीदता भी है और बेचता भी है। वह ये दोनों काम करता है और उसे पुराने समय में जॉबर (jobber) या डीलर बोलते थे। इसका मतलाब अगर जॉबर से आप खरीदना चाहते हैं तो वह आपको एक कीमत क्वोट करेगा मानलो की वह रु.100/- प्रति शेयर है। परंतु अगर आप jobber को अपने शेयर बेचना चाहते हैं तो वह उसी शेयर की दूसरी कीमत क्वोट करेगा जो (आम तौर पे) उपरोक्त कीमत से कम होगी।मानलो उसने आपसे शेयर ख़रीदनेके लिए रु. 90/- का आंकड़ा बोला है। यानीकि अगर आप उससे एक XYZ शेयर का भाव पूछें तो वह आपसे यह ना पूछते हुए की आपको बेचना है कि खरीदना है, क्वोट करेगा 90/100। यानी कि अगर आप बेचना चाहेंगे तो आपको रु. 90/- में शेयर बेचना होगा और आपको वही शेयर रु. 100/- में खरिदना होगा। इस बिड और आस्क के फर्क को (जो इस उदाहरण में रु.10/- प्रति शेयर है) स्प्रेड बोलते हैं। आमतौर पर जब स्प्रेड बहुत अधिक होता है इसका मतलब शेयर लिक्विड नहीं है यानी कि उनकी खरीदफरोख्त ज्यादह नही होती। - Own knowledge
