Reference: Design conditions Reference information: Design Conditions means the receiving water and effluent conditions applied in the determination of a TMDL, or a WLA in the absence of a TMDL, that represent the conditions most critical to protection of the applicable use designations. These conditions include, but are not limited to, stream design flow, effluent design flow, temperature, hardness, and pH. https://www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/design-conditions Overview of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) A TMDL is the calculation of the maximum amount of a pollutant allowed to enter a waterbody so that the waterbody will meet and continue to meet water quality standards for that particular pollutant. A TMDL determines a pollutant reduction target and allocates load reductions necessary to the source(s) of the pollutant. Pollutant sources are characterized as either point sources that receive a wasteload allocation (WLA), or nonpoint sources that receive a load allocation (LA). https://www.epa.gov/tmdl/overview-total-maximum-daily-loads-... |
