Bus/Financial - Geography / global markets
English term or phrase: Western Americas

If we then move to consider the same $400Bn market by territory, then what we see today is that the global XXX market is really split 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 across the Western Americas, Europe and the Asia/Oceania and Middle East & African markets. This picture looks very different from even 10 years ago where the red portion of the pie chart would have represented more like 25% of the picture and reflects the massive growth we’ve seen in China, India and so forth.

Der "pie" verteilt sich in 4 Segmente:
Western Americas 27%
Europe 34%
Asia, Oceania & MEAF 34%
South & Central America 5%

Explanation:
Guess based on the pie itself. The whole world is included except for these two countries, so don't see how it could mean the Western parts of the US and/or Canada, without mentioning the Easten Americas separately.

After a bit of googling I've come to the conclusion that there is no authoritative definition of this term. Therefore, perhaps North America is your safest bet.

Another argument against the Western United States is that South and Cental America are listed as separate entities, so it seems illogical that they would be split into W. and E. Central and South America.

Regional definitions vary from source to source. As defined by the Census Bureau, the western United States includes 13 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. In turn, this region is sub-divided into Mountain and Pacific areas. The states in light red, particularly the Plains States, are sometimes considered "western", although they are often grouped with separate regions such as the Midwest and the South.

Nachtrag:

neutral  Jonathan MacKerron: unlikely, as there is no Eastern or Atlantic Americas in the pie; yes, but this is not strictly a geography question, but global economics one. I agree that your definition fits the actual meaning, but probably not what is meant in the pie.

-> Of course there are Eastern Americas. Not in Daniel's pie chart, but mentioned in numerous web sites regarding sales regions of large companies. // The territories are military bases. Most definitely economics-related.
