agree  Tony M: Though note that 'strap' suggests something more permanent than an actual 'cavalier' / I know just what you mean! But even so, a 'cavalier' is really a removable 'jumper'; not the same as a hard-wired 'strap'; source text may be woolly!

  -> Agreed, but I have manipulated a lot of RAID disks and it was always a "cavalier". You must be able to easily move the strap when needed. And I can assure you it's not easy.

neutral  Daryo: yes about the explanation, but "switching the RAID mode" is also in essence doing a "configuration" , so you end up with "configuration by configuration of " ??
