Arabic to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Accounting / Iraqi budget terminology
Arabic term or phrase: أمانات
Not sure what that means in the following accounting context under the heading of Liabilities. Not sure also if that is "deposits" or "charges" or some other idiosyncratically Iraqi accounting term beyond what Al-Mawred dictionary lists (i.e. deposit, trust, charge, consignment). Here are a few examples from the accounting table in question:

Anyway, you get the point, as the list goes on and on...

By the way, in the explanatory notes, these accounting entries are expanded on. For instance, we have the following for "amanat al-awqaf":
يسجل في هذا الحساب الأمانات التي تستلمها وحدات الانفاق في دوائر الأوقاف وخاصة بها فقط

I have the feeling that this should be "deposits" ("consignments" may be far-fetched) rather than "charge" or "trust" unless there is something else out there that is specific to Iraqi accounting... Would appreciate any input that reasonably confirms the selected term...
