CEFR levels (proficiency levels for languages in my ProZ.com profile) - Optional or required?

It seems the "option" of setting CEFR proficiency levels is not optional. I tried adding an interest language today and was unable to do so without adding it to a list of languages that required me to set a CEFR proficiency level.
What do others think? Should setting CEFR levels be optional or required?
