I do work at night Mar 25, 2011

Sometimes I work at night. I find it as a quiet atmosphere to work on my translations, especially when there are deadlines to meet.

No Mar 25, 2011

No, not now, but there was time when I could happily work on through the small hours, if needs be. I have found that after passing the age of 50, I need to keep to a more balanced routine, and as a rule I stop work at about 5-6 o' clock.

Like Michael stated correctly, nobody bothers you when working after midnight.
I like working late hours (typical night owl), however, only when I don't have to get up too early the following morning.

Although I'm still a few years less wise than you Tim , I rarely work past 6.30 pm for the same reason. I start between 8.00 and 8.30 am, and after 8 or 9 hours of work, I need to switch off and do something else.

I actually can't work past 6 or 7 most days because of other commitments. I start earlier when I've got a lot on.

Yes Mar 25, 2011

Being a [Dracula voice] "creature of the night". Especially when there's nothing worthwhile on TV.
Mornings are good too, although it's always a struggle not to watch the Dog Whisperer on weekend mornings here instead of working...

Never have, never will.

I'm an early bird and I rarely work after 5 pm.

Often Mar 25, 2011

As others have said, it's quiet and there are few distractions.

Plus it works well with my clients' schedule. Most of them are in Europe. They send me jobs as they're leaving work for the day (around lunchtime here in the Eastern U.S.), and I deliver the jobs to them by 2 a.m. my time, just before they start their next work day.

occasionally Mar 25, 2011

I try not to, even though I'm a night owl. I have to wind down after and then i get to bed so late.
If it's a european deadline, or an early morning deadline, I'd rather work late and sleep in.
I did actually work until about 1 am last week, finishing final revisions for a large project. I hadn't done that in a while. Took the next day off!

In my case it should be "Do you ever work before midnight?" I only really get going when everyone's asleep and the whole place is quiet. I must have been a bat or something in my past life.

I started in this business so I could work at home and be with my little one, so I prefer to work as much as possible when he's asleep - which often means late nights working until 3am

It often works out well as many clients are in Europe, and they are impressed when I respond to emails right away when its early morning, their time, and the middle of the night for me!

Usually my best hours Mar 26, 2011

Most times I find myself more productive in the middle night (I'm a "night-worker"), I enjoy and work the best from 10pm to 3-4am.
