French term

From a presentation about an equipment leasing company:
Durée de location entre 12 et 84 mois ou durées intercalaires selon le cycle de vie de l’équipement
I understand "intercalaire" to mean something like "interim," but then it doesn't really make sense since the first part of the sentence talks about lease terms *between* 12 and 84 months. Am I missing something?

Yes, it does mean "intermediate durations", but "between 12 and 84 months or intermediate durations" is a tautology.

: not true! 'or intermediate durations depending on the equipment's life cycle': this is not tautological!

Both in English and in French, "between 12 and 84 months" means "12 months, or 84 months, or intermediate durations".

Thanks! I'm a big believer in leaving stuff out. You can be faithful without being slavish.

The info in the text is not tautological. Below is an alternative explanation:
Duration = 12 years or 84 years. If it is greater than 12 and lower than 84, then the determination of duration depends on he equipment's life cycle.

: It does mean intermediate durations, but as it already says "between 12 and 84 months" this is totally redundant and even confusing; think about it// stretch your mind just a little further (in English)
