Refers to the number of rooms or beds occupied by guests on any given date, usually presented as a percentage. Because accommodation is perishable (i.e. if rooms are unsold on the 1st December, there won’t be another chance to sell them), high occupancy rates are essential to profitability

| Yes, that is a good suggestion - and would produce a customer comment that is considerably more literate than the Swedish original. Which raises an issue that comes up now and then - should the translation smooth out the shortcomings of the original, or should it reflect them? Answers on a postcard - or perhaps a topic for a forum discussion? |
