"At first security prices were set by the single price and multiple price methods during dealing the floor. Essentially this system consisted in the first phase of determining an opening price each morning according to comparison of written bids and offers placed in a box by members. Most purchases would be on the basis of the opening price, which in the next stage would form the basis for variations within limits set according to new demand and supply; that is, according to the multi-price method. Before long, however, certain drawbacks arose in this system. It took so long to calculate the opening price that the exchange never got around the adjustments of security prices in public on a continouos basis, and the multiple price method lost any practical meaning. One of the weakest aspects of the system was the "rule of proportion" which was applied in the event of discrepancies between demand and supply, by which securities were allocated according to demand. This created serious obstructions."

Four methods have been used by central governments to distribute new securities that they issue: (1) regular auction cycle/multiple-price method, (2) regular auction cycle/single-price method, (3) ad hoc auction method, and (4) tap method.
With the regular auction cycle/multiple-price method there is a regular auction cycle and winning bidders are allocated securities at the yield (price) they bid.
For the regular auction cycle/single-price method, there is a regular auction cycle and all winning bidders are awarded securities at the highest yield accepted.

Idézet egy másik forrásból:
Governments use the following methods to issue new debt:
- Regular auction cycle/single-price method: this is the same method used by the US Treasury.
- Regular auction cycle/multiple-price method: this method is similar to the one used by the US Treasury, except that winning bidders are awarded securities at the yield they bid, not at the stop yield.
- Ad hoc auction method: auctions are announced when market conditions are favorable.
- Tap method: bonds from a previously outstanding issue are auctioned.

Tehát szerintem itt arról van szó magyarul, hogy az új álllami értékpapírok (government securities) klasszikus aukció (regular auction) keretében történő forgalomba hozatala (distribution) során a "multiple-price method" esetében az ajánlatok eltérő bázishozamait/árfolyamait veszik figyelembe, míg a "single-price method" az a módszer, amikor a klasszikus aukcióra beérkezett érvényes ajánlatok a *legmagasabb* hozam-/árfolyam-elvárású ajánlattól kezdődően kerülnek kielégítésre. Yield: hozam, price: árfolyam, stop yield (más néven high yield): legmagasabb hozam.
Hasznos magyar nyelvű anyag: "Ismertető a tőkepiacról szóló 2001. évi CXX. törvény vonatkozó rendelkezései szerint a Kibocsátó által aukció útján belföldön forintban nyilvánosan forgalomba hozandó államkötvények forgalomba hozatalának és forgalmazásának általános feltételeiről" és különösen ennek 3.sz. melléklete, "A magyar államkötvények klasszikus aukció keretében történő forgalomba hozatala során a bázishozam/árfolyam kiszámítására vonatkozó módszer leírása":

Note from asker:
