Discussion

Albert Gomperts Mar 20, 2020:
dwaasopbod = rouwverkoop dwaasopbod is a translation of "folle enchère" - the term rouwverkoop is recommended now, but you still see dwaasopbod in texts.
Whatever the case it means a new auction of the goods if the buyer fails to follow up on his/her bid and the notary has to sell off the property in a new auction.
writeaway Jan 9, 2005:
@anjoboira: dwaas opbod is a term found in Belgian legal dicos and in French is a folle enchre. not much point trying to apply NL solutions to Belgian docs. The language may be Dutch but the context is Belgian. :-)
Anjo Sterringa Jan 9, 2005:
writeaway Jan 9, 2005:
since it's a Belgian legal text, doesn't that make it Flemish, not Dutch? There is quite a difference between the 2 in this particular field.

Forfeit

My Servotte Business Dictionary, a Flemish publication, defines "dwaas/onbezonnen" as 'forfeit, irresponsible bid (sic)'

Sorry: That should have read \"dwaas/onbezonnen OPBOD\" of course
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : imho forfeit alone is not a good solution-Servotte often tries to find a 'snappy' solution even when there isn't one/ :-)

I agree that it isn't. I was merely trying to provide Tina with some clues to 'fuel' further research ;-)
