Dutch term
hoogohmig
Dutch to English
Science
Physics
we kunnen ons lichaam alleen reinigen door water te drinken met een zo hoog mogelijke weerstand (hoogohmig water) en daarmee samenhangend zo'n laag mogelijke geleiding.
Could someone please help me with the translation of 'hoogohmig'. Thanks!

high-resisivity
The electrical impedance of water is referred to as resistivity or specific resistance.
-> "A microsiemens (µS) is a millionth of a siemens. The common convention in measuring high purity water, however, is to use resistivity in place of conductance.
Resistivity is the opposite of conductance. Mathematically speaking, it is the reciprocal of conductance. Resistivity, also called "specific resistance", refers to the capacity of a liquid to resist the flow of a current, and it is measure in ohms or megohmsºcentimeter."

-> "There are a growing number of laboratory and industrial processes that require low-conductivity/high-resistivity water. Maintaining high-purity water is crucial for these applications, yet many of those assigned the task of monitoring water quality fail to grasp the challenges involved."

Kate Hudson (X)
: high-resistivity perhaps?

That'll be the one ;-)

sophos76
: it's spelled wrong... resistivity ... and doesn't fit in the sentence = : ) perhaps 'highly resistant water'

Yes, resistivity is what I intended to write of course. Hoogohmig water = high-resistivity water. I fail to see how it doesn't fit; the term asked is a grammatical castaway on parenthesis island.

Jack den Haan
: Is also correct. At least if spelled correctly ;-)

water with a high ohm factor
Ohm is a unit for electrical resistance.

: Hmm... never heard of that before (and I was trained as an electrical engineer).
