Comment: ""A nostalgic journey through thirty years...." sounds good. "A look back on" works for me as well. Tough call. Thanks, everyone!"

: Aw, I was going to say that; you beat me to it. I was trying to think of an idiom related to sound or hearing rather than sight instead of "bird's eye view."

a look (and listen) back on 30 years of North Sea Jazz
not overly literal, but 4 CD's is a lot of music and to me, a bird's eye view seems more superficial. that is just my own opinon-1 question, 3 translators, 5 different ideas.....

: My US dictionary:"seen at a glance, & from above; also cursory" (bird's I view isn't even in my UK dictionary). Indeed, 1 synonym for cursory is brief;4 CDs is anything but brief, but could B considered a "brief" summary relative to 30 yrs of music.

a look back is longer than just a look.

: a look-and-listen is a well-known expression (delete 'back') - you want to keep the 'sound' in there and 'bird's eye view' does not.
