Tina Vonhof (X) Jul 6, 2022:
We still need context. Can you give us one or more sentences?
Ronald van Riet Jul 6, 2022:
country? to which country does this apply? From the spelling 'defense', it seems US?
and can you give a sample text where this is used?

corps

When referring to a specialized unit or part of a branch of the armed forces, corps seems to be the preferred term.

The Dutch Royal Decree on Military Traditions of the Army (BWBR0038194) defines Wapens and Dienstvakken in terms similar to those of the administrative corps (plural) in, for example, the US Navy and the British armed forces as a whole. The administrative corps of the US Army are also called branches.
