Borrowing from Harry -- presumably a small circuit board with a sensor for an infrared (IR) data link. The 'digitale aansluiting' would simply be the connector for connection to the main unit.

Several game consoles and the like have accessory IR receiver modules that can be plugged into the main unit. Of course, whether someone in NL or BE would call such a module a 'plaatje' is a good question.
