agree MoiraB : Eurofound glossary just calls this 'leave of absence' (synonym: kortverzuim) http://tinyurl.com/3xz2wl2 and http://tinyurl.com/37wrnxz. Same glossary for the UK also has 'leave of absence' (permission to be absent from work for various reasons)
