Can anyone tell me what this acronym stands for? Not in Jurlex, Kluwer GPW or Van Dale. It relates to gas installations (possibly safety aspects)and Google hits indicate that it is a well established concept. So well established, in fact, that nobody explains what it stands for.

My guess is that GAVO is not an acronym, but instead an abbreviation (possibly of 'Gasinstallatie Voorschriften', you see this often in Dutch officialese, such as 'vinex'). As the orignal term dates from before the Web, if you really want to know you'll probably have to consult newspaper archives (unless someone who knows from experience gives an answer).

De GAVO (Gasinstallatievoorschriften) heeft sinds begin dit jaar plaats gemaakt voor een nieuwe norm, de NEN 1078.
The country specific gas installation regulations have to be observed.
